In addition to racing (of which I do more spectating than participating), one of my favorite hobbies is wrenching on cars. The best ones are old and simple, from before computers took over everything and engines became magic boxes where you put gasoline in and get torque out, and if anything breaks a few advanced degrees are needed to fix it. At the moment, I have two cars of my own: a 1997 Oldsmobile Regency and a 1991 Mazda Miata. The Oldsmobile's only real purpose is transportation of people and things, so it sees an unfortunate amount of neglect. The Miata, however, is an absolute joy to drive and despite some funky packaging that makes even changing the oil filter a chore, it's a lot of fun to wrench on.
